Whether it’s the freezing winters of Northern Europe or the blazing heat of Southern Spain, every cyclist worries about how their e-bike performs and stays safe in extreme weather.

To address these concerns, ADO has developed a comprehensive set of high and low temperature testing standards, based on international regulations and verified through rigorous in-house experiments at the ADO E-bike Laboratory.

These tests ensure that ADO e-bikes maintain their performance, safety, and reliability—whether you’re commuting through icy streets or cruising under the summer sun.

Safety First: The Importance of Temperature Testing

At ADO, safety always comes before innovation. Inside the ADO Environmental Simulation Lab, engineers recreate real-world extreme temperature conditions to test how e-bikes perform under stress.

It’s not just about exposing bikes to heat or cold; the lab also evaluates how rapidly changing temperatures affect electronic components, battery systems, and structural integrity. This helps ensure that every ADO e-bike can handle rapid shifts in weather without compromising stability or rider safety.

1. Temperature Shock Test

The first stage is the Temperature Shock Test. Using a dual-chamber air-to-air system, e-bikes are alternately moved between an 80°C hot chamber and a -40°C cold chamber.

This cycle is repeated several times to expose potential weak points in materials and components. Any issues detected during this process are analyzed and refined, ensuring that every ADO e-bike remains reliable even in extreme climates—from subzero alpine mornings to scorching urban afternoons.

Test parameters:

  • Hot chamber: up to 80°C

  • Cold chamber: down to -40°C

After 48 hours of continuous testing, the ADO e-bike is expected to maintain full functionality and stability.

2. High and Low Temperature Storage Test

Next, e-bikes undergo long-duration storage tests in constant temperature chambers:

  • One chamber is set to -40°C

  • Another to 70°C

Each e-bike remains in these environments for 48 hours, simulating real-world scenarios such as long-term storage in cold garages, hot vehicles, or shipping containers.

The goal: to ensure that ADO e-bikes can be stored safely anywhere in the world, maintaining component integrity regardless of climate conditions.

3. Performance Under Extreme Conditions

The final step is the Extreme Function Test. Here, ADO e-bikes are operated at temperatures between -15°C and 45°C, under real mechanical stress and load conditions.

Each test lasts 12 continuous hours, simulating outdoor riding in harsh weather to verify:

  • Stable power output

  • Reliable braking and control

  • Battery efficiency under thermal pressure

  • Structural endurance

This ensures that ADO e-bikes deliver safe, smooth rides whether you’re navigating snow-covered paths or hot summer pavements.

Built on International Standards

All ADO temperature tests comply with leading international and military-grade testing standards, including:

  • GB/T 2423.1—2008

  • GB/T 2423.2—2008

  • GB/T 2423.22—2002

  • GJB150.3A—2009

  • GJB150.4A—2009

  • GJB150.9A—2009

  • GJB360A—1996

Meeting these benchmarks ensures that ADO products don’t just pass internal inspections—they are globally validated for durability, reliability, and safety.

100% Tested, 100% Reliable

Every ADO e-bike model undergoes comprehensive temperature resistance testing before leaving the factory.
The results confirm that ADO bikes can confidently withstand both high and low temperatures without performance degradation or safety risk.

From short daily commutes to long weekend adventures, your ADO e-bike is built to keep you moving — rain, shine, or snow.
